Ok this fabulous lipcolor stayed hidden in my makeup drawer. It was part of the Sephora Favorites: Give Me Some Lip ($28.00/$67.00value). I’ve already posted swatches of the other lip products on my Instagram: @lipstickduchess (with the exception of the Bite Pink Pearl. So if you want to see those, head on over, give it some love, likes and a follow. (I may update this post with those swatches at a later date.) 😉
Now back to this lippie, the ABH is the only full size product in this set. I didn’t bother with it when I purchased this set as I have plenty of great matte options I already use. And honestly when these first came out and I was trying out the testers, it left me with an impression that they were very dry. That may be the case if they are left out in the open with the heating/ac on sucking up the moisture out of these lipsticks. All matte lipsticks eventually dry out although some lip formulations do pass the test of time. I can attest to that with my collection and usage. But a fresh tube is always best.
SO SHOULD YOU GET IT?
I think the ABH is a pretty decent matte. It felt lightweight but not drying on the lips; no staining and longwear. I didn’t experience any pull on the lips but when I swatched on the hand back at the store, many would pull at the skin because they were dried out. Would I bother getting more if I ran out? Probably not. (Better question is will I run out of lipstick in general. 😀 ).
Well, it’s not my first choice in a matte lipstick. That would be Mac. They improved their formulas and really rank top when it comes to lip texture variety. Plus the Back-2-Mac program, you really can’t beat that. None of these other companies do that.
However if you really want to try this, I suggest getting these lipsticks when they come out in a set like the minis or the Sephora set. On their own, they’re not worth it imo.
For the swatch, I used Mac Nightmoth (OG technique, I can’t believe I’m saying that) of giving this red lip a touch more dimension. Looks good. Glam all the way.
