End of the Year Review

2019 was quite a year for makeup!

While admittedly I couldn’t keep up with everything, I did notice certain trends.

Brand of the Year: goes to Colourpop. Even though it is being dubbed the “fast fashion of makeup”, their collections get sold out and they are leaving everybody else in the dust. Let’s see how they do in 2020, I don’t know if anybody can keep up with them! (My resolution for 2020 is to use the stuff I have. πŸ˜€)

Palette of the Year: JSC and Shane Dawson “Conspiracy” palette had fans standing in long lines. Personally, I never was interested in the palette or the color story, however it was a highly-anticipated palette in 2019.

Lipstick of the Year: the Mac Love Me lipsticks. They took lipstick back to the comfort-zone with a new formula and an amped up dreamy vanilla scent. It’s like a lip spa when you wear them. Bravo Mac!

Product of the Year: Eyeshadow Palettes! Everywhere you looked, eyeshadows palette were raining down from the sky with both indie brands and mainstream companies releasing palette after palette.

Trend of the Year: Foundation Ranges & Finishes. We thankfully saw companies step up with their foundation in both expanded ranges and a variety of finishes. Brands becoming inclusive was great to see. (Thanks to Fenty who set the bar high!)

Luxury Brand of the Year: Natasha Denona. While her price points were crazy high, the brand offered lower priced palettes. This didn’t dissuade from those who still purchased some pretty impressive albeit pricey palettes.

Honorable Mention: goes to Huda Beauty. Girlfriend knocked out some pretty stellar palettes such as the Mercury Retrograde and the Nude Light, Medium and Dark.

Do you have any brands or products this year that were impressive to you? Agree or disagree?

Post below!

Happy New Year! Here’s to 2020: the Year of the Decluttering. πŸ˜€
