Chanel No. 5 L’Eau

Eau de Toilette (EDT)

A beautiful modern interpretation of a classic Chanel perfume! Easy to wear version of Chanel’s cult classic No. 5. You are introduced to fresh citruses in the top notes followed by white florals and rose on a base of white musk.

Creamy citrus on top drying down to a powdery white musk and florals.

What you’ll notice is there is no tuberose which figures prominently in many of the older fragrances hence why those are referred to as “old lady scents”. It’s a beautifully-scented flower but some find the scent heavy. I grew tuberose last year in my garden. The fragrance is strong but beautiful.

Verdict: Fresh, sparkling, light

Top notes: Lemon, mandarin, orange, neroli, aldehydes*.

Middle notes: Rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine.

Base notes: Cedar, white musk.

This perfume was developed by Oliver Polge in 2016.

*Aldehydes are a chemical compounds that mimic organic scents such as vanilla, pumpkin spice and lemon. They add sparkle to a perfume. This a first for Chanel using aldehydes.

So why did I get it?

I got it for my birthday. ๐Ÿฅณ

I love Chanel fragrances in general. Many bottles are in rotation on my vanity.

The N5 Eau Premiere, original N5, Chanel N19, Coco Mademoiselle, Coco Noir and Chance: Fraรฎche & Tendre.
